| Let's go on a little virtual tour
of the CROW website to see what's new and revisit some old faithfuls. |
CROW
is considering some restructuring. You can
help us by providing your opinions to the following open-ended
questions. Please e-mail your responses to CROWinc@mts.net. |
A new study shows chlorpyrifos, or dursban, is responsible for reduced
male fertility.
Read more about
dursban here on our About Pesticides page.
Did you know that
Winnipeg is the only city still allowed to use dursban for
larviciding? It's been banned everywhere else, but we're
"special".
To tell your
councillor that you'd like the city to stop using Dursban, check
out Contact your politicians!
here on our Actions page.
Another action
to take is to register your buffer zone.
Remember that you have to redo this every year! Not only will
this provide you with a little bit of breathing
room, it sends a message that poisons are not welcome.
Are you
interested in joining a coalition of groups working towards a cosmetic
pesticide ban? Call or write.
The newest link on
our resources page will get you to this Bay area newspaper, which has a toxic body burden
website, including a quiz
to give you an educated guess about your
own toxic body burden. |
In
your opinion,
1. Have CROW's actions or services been beneficial in increasing
awareness of pesticide hazards? If yes, how?
2. Have CROW's actions or services been beneficial in decreasing
pesticide use? If yes, how?
3. Have CROW's actions or services benefited you? If yes,
how?
4. Which of CROW's actions or services do you feel were most
helpful? Which were the least helpful?
5. Do you think CROW is too radical or not radical
enough? Please explain.
6. What direction would you like to see CROW take in the
future? How do you see yourself participating in that vision?
7. Is there anything else you would like to add?
Thank you very much for your response. |
| Pesticides are harmful at extremely low levels, new
research reveals. Read this alarming study by scientists at UC
Berkeley on disappearing
frogs. |
According to a study
conducted in France, the risk of childhood acute leukemia
was increased by exposure to pesticides in the home, in the garden, and
in shampoos used for treating head lice. |
Watch for details of our
next event,
a one-day conference,
Pesticides in Children
followed by Dragonfly Cafe
Earth Day, April 22 |
Could you provide
accomodation for our conference guest speakers?
We are seeking
billeting arrangements in homes
safe for the
chemically sensitive. |
| Have you been
negatively impacted by fogging? If so, perhaps you would like to
write a letter for inclusion in our response to the government within
our complaint to the Manitoba Human Rights Commission. Please
call or write for more details, if interested. |
