Six Nations Solidarity Peace Gathering
Friday June 16 3:30 pm
Speakers at 5 pm
The Forks Circle, Oodena Circle
For months the Six Nations of the Iroquois Confederacy
have been defending
their territories, currently threatened by Caledonia (Ontario)
housing
developments. This blockade adds to a centuries-long history of
Indigenous
resistance to incursions on their lands, including actions at
Gustafson
Lake, Oka, Ipperwash, Grassy Narrows and Nelson House. On June
16, the
federal government is expected to officially enter into the legal
dispute,
and the Six Nations have asked other Indigenous peoples and their
allies to
show their solidarity in the struggle for Aboriginal rights.
Gather at the
Forks Circle with food and music this Friday.
